Gas Cards Being Offered as Incentive to Travel to South Florida

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau has started to offer $25 gas cards as an incentive to travelers to visit South Florida this year.
As gas prices continue to climb and reach all time highs, one county in Florida has begun to offer travelers free gas as an incentive for visiting Florida. The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau will provide a $25 gas card to visitors that book a two-night stay at select hotels through the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau website or Facebook page. The bureau expects to provide up to $100,000 in gift cards to help boost tourism to the Fort Lauderdale area.
Nicki Grossman, president of the Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau explained that filling “hotel rooms is worth the investment.” Many travel officials worry that gas prices will affect what tourists spend on travel this year.
